On June 18th, 2020 the US Supreme Court sided with DACA recipients and ruled the Trump Administration did not follow the proper procedure to end the DACA program. This is a win for over 650,000 DACA recipients participating in the program currently. However, it is important to understand that the Trump Administration can try to end the program again through executive order, only Congress can provide a permanent path to citizenship for these young adults.
Until further notice, this court decision restores the program completely. USCIS will accept renewal requests and initial requests for anyone who has or previously had DACA. First time applicants should wait for further instructions.
If you are considering DACA, it is always advised that you speak with a trusted legal service provider to fully discuss your current immigration situation and determine your options before submitting an application or a renewal.
